ABOUT ANNALESE

I have served as a Celebrant with the Humanist Society Scotland since 2015, and since then I have the privilege of conducting hundreds of ceremonies.

I feel as though my strengths lie in my love of storytelling and my ability to connect with people. Spending time in nature, travelling and music are some of my sources of joy and inspiration. I am also a trained yoga teacher, and have practiced yoga for many years. I care deeply about our shared world and strive to make a positive impact through my work as a celebrant.

I was born and brought up in Edinburgh, and my upbringing was a blend of cultures as my mother is American and my father is from Shetland. Spending time in both places has infused me with an appreciation for diverse perspectives and traditions.

Being a celebrant allows me to travel across Scotland, creating unforgettable memories. It fills me with immense joy and a profound sense of purpose to be a part of such meaningful moments.

Outside of my celebrant work, my background lies in hospitality. I have also worked as a carer and had the privilege of running my own business in Edinburgh for six years. Many of the skills I have learned along the way lean into my Celebrant work.

I have been married to my husband, Lloyd, since 2000. We were married by a Celebrant while we were travelling in Australia. We have two sons together, Harris and Lachlan, as well as our much loved Border Collie, Bonnie.

I feel that becoming a celebrant has allowed me to find my calling in life, and I am grateful for the opportunity to practice this role and to guide you during one of the most meaningful times in your life.

We'll be alive again in a thousand blades of grass, and a million leaves; we'll be falling in the raindrops and blowing in the fresh breeze; we'll be glittering in the dew under the stars and the moon out there in the physical world, which is our true home and always was.
